In an effort to further the continued decline of our national CDR, the Financial Partners channel and, in particular, our Partner Services staff, is compiling best practices and creative ideas in default prevention. In partnership with you, schools and other members of the lending community, we hope to provide a one-stop forum for the sharing of new ideas and information.

This document details an FSA-sponsored event with schools and other members of the lending community. The Eastern and Northern Region Partner Services offices recently hosted a Default Aversion Conference. This conference provided a forum for guaranty agency, lender, and servicer attendees to share successful default aversion practices.
This information is taken from our Postsecondary Education Participants System (PEPS), as of January 9, 2003. It discloses how many reviews were conducted by ED and GA staff, and the deficiencies noted.

Collections is an integral part of the U.S. Department of Education's Federal Student Aid office. ED provides collections services to organizations holding student loans in default that are part of the FFEL and Direct Loan programs.
